Meeting with TII about National/Motorway Road issues.

Myself and Cllr Liona O’Toole represented Lucan’s issues robustly at a detailed meeting on 16th July, 2025, along with other SDCC Councillors. The purpose of the meeting was to bring issues relating to N and M roads (National and Motorway) to Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) for discussion. I would like to thank all my constituents who fed issues and information back to me about these roads, earlier this year. It took a long time for TII to agree to meet with us and SDCC management. Following the meeting, TII required the notes from the meeting to be approved by them, which was somewhat of a surprise to me. However, we have finally received the responses by TII to the issues of the whole SDCC area, but Lucan features prominently. Issues discussed included:

  • Toll-dodging traffic congesting Lucan village
  • Access onto the N4 at Lucan via slip roads
  • Congestion in the greater Lucan area
  • Design & safety of the M50/N4 interchange at Liffey Valley, & lots more

TII agreed to meet with all SDCC Councillor representatives in the near future on a regular basis, so please get in touch with me if you would like to add your voice to the discussion and I will do my best to represent you to TII.
